George Miller's Mad Max series traces a color journey from the relatively normal world of the original to the full post-apocalyptic excess of Fury Road. The Road Warrior established the bleached Australian outback as the landscape of collapse: everything tan, rust, and chrome under a merciless white sky. Fury Road pushed this into abstraction, using orange desert and night-blue sky as the primary instruments of operatic visual storytelling.
