The Men in Black films use color as bureaucratic comedy. The agents' black suits against the vivid chaos of alien life. Barry Sonnenfeld and his cinematographers gave the films a bright, slightly over-lit comedic palette that made even extraterrestrial elements feel approachable. The aliens themselves are often garish in color, as if the universe's full chromatic range has been excluded from the human world and contained in what the suits are meant to suppress.
