The Rocky series is bound together by the specific color of the ring: the bright lights overhead, the sweat-soaked canvas, the red of corners and gloves. John G. Avildsen's original had a gritty Philadelphia naturalism, all grey streets and amber interior light. The Creed films updated this with a more polished, desaturated cinematic look while honoring the franchise's roots in working-class color.
