Michael Bay's Transformers films are studies in the color of spectacle. Chrome and steel catching magic-hour gold, explosions rendered in orange fireballs against flat blue sky, cityscapes pulverized in slow motion. The robots were designed with intentional color coding, Optimus Prime's patriotic red and blue against Megatron's silver menace. Bay's palette is aspirational maximalism pushed to its logical extreme.
